The grapevine tells me that new Loran mail modules are in the process of being released, one for GEnie and one for MCI Mail. Coolness through and through. Check out the Software Ventures BBS at 510 849 1912 for the latest and greatest. Give them a holler on CompuServe in the MACBVEN forum; you should see some new downloads available in 7th Heaven (Library 7).
Many more modem drivers are being released. If your copy of MicroPhone did not come with a modem driver for your modem, check out the SVC BBS. You might find the driver of your dreams there.
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, someone developed a set of MicroPhone scripts that would dial the telephone number for an atomic clock and automatically set your Mac's clock to the correct time. I've seen a few different versions of this on CompuServe and the SVC BBS, but never one that worked reliably. I seem to remember that it used an XCMD or XFCN that would pass the time to the Mac, but it would sometimes pass the incorrect value. Here is a challenge: Find this set of scripts and make them work! Otherwise, we'll have to keep on using the Set Clock application.
Modem manufacturers are finally coming out with modem packages designed for Mac users -- special cables, software, the works. One of the better high-speed deals I've seen have been for the Zoom VFX v.32bis w/FAX. Many places have this bundle for less than $300. I've heard some negative press about Zoom, especially their tech support. However, it really is a very good modem -- you just need to understand it -- to know it is to love it. The MicroPhone Zoom modem drivers are very good and should provide you with the quality of life you would expect from your modem.
